Oath of Office – December 13th at 10am

Hello,

Thank you for your support of my candidacy.  I was unopposed so my name and candidate statement never made it on the ballot.  I’ll be sworn in on December 13th at 10am at the Sunnyvale School District – District Office.  Please join if you are available.  I’ve pasted my candidate statement below, just so it is published somewhere.  The word/character/line requirements were pretty tricky:

PEGGY SHEN BREWSTER

Parent, Teacher, Volunteer

I’m a credentialed teacher, mother of two children in the district, and

passionate community volunteer.  Working in my kids’ school, founding

their PTA, serving on School Site Council, refining school grants for

Sunnyvale Education Foundation, starting an advocacy group for local

students, and serving on district committees have given me insight and

understanding of student, parent, school staff experiences and how to

better support students and all that contribute to our kids’ education.

I am committed to public education and believe schools should provide

instructional rigor and emotional support for each child to lead a life

of joy and purpose. Community engagement and home-school communication

are core to student belonging and success. Authentic, hands-on learning

opportunities are necessary for students to meaningfully learn, find

passion, and thrive. To ensure this nurturing learning environment, we

need to attract and retain enthusiastic, community-centered educators.

I will work creatively and collaboratively for all students’ success.

Education: B.S. Psychology and English from Santa Clara University;

Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and Single Subject English

Teaching Credential from San Jose State University.
